Taking kids on cruise trips -- what's the point?

Taking kids on cruise trips -- what's the point? E-mail 此主題給朋友

[隱藏]
Premise: a family of four (assumably two parents + two descendants) just embarked on a weekend, 1.5-day round-city cruise trip
As evidenced in here

Details and pricing of trip concerned
http://www.jetour.com.hk/jt_cruise_cms/packages/X8HAW7QZ.pdf

Questions:
a. What's the point of this anyway?  Understandably it's not some long-distance deluxe trip... is that really necessary?  What negative effects would these trips bring forth to the descendants who may have expected more?
b. Is that a way for affluent people -- such as the parents here in this scenario -- to flaunt their wealth and (societal) affluence?
